Convergence.

I saw that Convergence 20 was happening, and I was like:

I figured my friends would be super excited to meet up and have intellectual discourse typically associated with Convergence:

but then I joined the Facebook group and saw a few posts asking people to be polite...

and then subsequently scrolled down and saw a bunch of threads that had exploded into dramabombs over basically nothing.

So as someone who was kinda sorta on the fence, that made up my mind.

Convergence is still a thing?

It is! I know people that are still excited about it, but TBH I haven't been to one since...Convergence 7, so I'm probably not exactly the target audience. I figured a year like 20 would be a big deal (the goth club I was involved with in NYC is ending on it's 15 year anniversary in a few weeks, and it's gonna be a huge blowout) but yeah...not really feeling the vibe if the Facebook is any indication.

Hahaha...the legend of C7 carries on, though, I'm sure.

I've never been to a Convergence, but I feel like goth cruise was close enough. And it was fun and all, but I think I'm cool just going to Contempt's last night instead.

C7's actually mentioned in the DC bid, 'cause apparently one of the organizers had a polite disagreement and left the bid committee. I knew very, very little of the scene at that time since that was the weekend I moved to NYC, but good lord. People talked about that drama for years.

Sure did! Funny thing...I'd just moved to NYC at that time too, and a friend of mine was in town, so we went to Limelight to hang out (*snf*). And I wandered in on the Anti-Convergence going on there, and didn't even know it. Only years later did the drama start reaching my ears.

But that's cool. It was fun.
