Nice. Was that part of the Citizens for Batman event that was going on downtown last night? I had considered going in to check it out, but I ended up getting a Wii and spending my evening playing with it instead.
Citizens for Batman! That's what it was called, I couldn't remember. I got a pin, a newspaper and a sticker. :) It was really fun, but maybe not awesome enough to really regret not going. heh.
Had I had class last night, I would have stuck around for it. As amusing as it sounds, I feel like commuting in for it would be too much. I mean, I'm all for Batman, but I have my limits.
This: http://community.livejournal.com/newyorkers/4203808.html is a good description of it. I missed the subway thing though. heh. Stopping traffic with a mob of people though - that was really fun. :D
Stopping traffic through sheer strength in numbers was pretty much the best bit, yeah. I keep thinking of ways that could have made it better - breaking the crowd up into smaller mobs to go after similar clues hidden in different places that all end at the same location, so more than just the people up front know what's going on, passing out cheap megaphones or something to the people who get the clues, more (hell, any) seeds in the crowd, giving the thing a definite end point by having the mob broken up by GCPD on order of District Attorney Harvey Dent, etc. But still. There were buttons, and running, and impromptu traffic jams, and a bat signal. I can live with that.
Exactly. It started out so great, it was sad to see it just fizzle out when it had SO much potential. I would have thought the people with the promo stuff were seeds but they seemed generally useless in that regard.
Yeah, the promo people didn't seem to know what to do beyond "Give people things till bag is empty". You *have* to have some sort of cap for the evening beyond a bat signal and a totally fake chat feed on your website that nobody actually attending the event can read. I still think having GCPD shut it down or a bunch of Joker goons throw cards at everybody would have been a perfectly acceptable conclusion.
I wish! Pfft. I think we decided if he did show up he would start killing people while talking about how Huey Lewis and the News was a little too new wave for his tastes.
